Martin Taplin
CEO
After completing a B.A. honors degree in Business Economics, Martin started working in construction when he moved to Queesntown, New Zealand in 2012 whilst travelling. He worked exclusively on custom new home builds for some of the most prestigious builders in the region, learning every facet of building from the ground up, completing a Carpentry Apprenticeship in the process. He met his wife, originally from Fair Oaks, CA, whilst she was completing her placement with The Peace Corps in Fiji, and they moved to California in 2021. He has since worked in a number of counties around the Sacramento area building custom homes, completing extensive renovations and remodels and constructing Additional Building Units. Most recently the focus has been renovations of historic homes and commercial buildings in Sacramento and Yolo County.

Frequently asked questions

How much does a remodel cost?
Your budget will determine the extent of work to be completed and the quality of products to be used. There is flexibility within construction to suit your budget and this can be discussed from initial consultation to the design phase.
How do I pick the right contractor?
When solicitating bids, you should check that the contractor has an active license and that it is in good standing on the CSLB website. Ask the contractor to see his certification of insurance and it is recommended to do your due diligence by checking referrals.
Which bid do I choose?
If you are asking multiple contractors for bids on your project, make sure that you provide the same scope of work to each contractor including the same standard of products. Be wary of significantly lower bids as it may not include all of the work required.
How does your payment schedule work?
We can be flexible on payment schedule. However, we suggest a payment schedule based on stage completion of the project. This allows you to see where your money is going reassuring you that each stage is being finished to code.
How does Rimant differ to other general contractors?
We approach each project as a partnership between Client and Contractor. Whether you are an experienced DIYer who knows what they are looking for and how they want the project to go, or you have little knowledge of construction, and the processes involved, we want to tailor our service through honest and open communication.
